ALBA Countries Celebrate Their Cultural Identity With a Drum Party in Caracas

The 10 member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA), along with representatives of invited nations, celebrated their cultural identity this Saturday with a drum party in the Plaza Bolivar in Caracas, in the capital of Venezuela.

The activity of this Saturday, preceded by a walk on the occasion of the Day of Spirituality of Caracas to the Plaza Bolivar, is part of the ‘Meeting Drums of the ALBA, beats of our identity’, held in the Caribbean country from last Thursday to this Sunday, June 23, with the participation of more than 400 people.
“From Benin to Bolivia, the drums are present here today,” said ALBA Executive Secretary Jorge Arreaza, who assured that this will be the first edition of this meeting, which he hopes can be “held every year in this virtuous Caracas.”
For her part, the Executive Vice President of Venezuela, Delcy RodrÃguez, greeted the visiting groups and affirmed that they speak “the same language”, the “of the drum, which is the language of the resistance of the peoples”.
“From Venezuela, let us call, with that same drum, with that loud, loud ringing, for freedom, for the independence of our countries, for the happiness of our peoples, that these drums fight permanently against the hegemonism of the north,” the official said.
In addition to Venezuela, Cuba, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis and Saint Lucia participate in this meeting, during which conferences are also held, guests from Colombia participate, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay, Honduras, Benin, Haiti and Barbados, according to a press release from the regional alliance.
