Young players, from one of Brazil's most popular football teams, are among the victims.
A big fire at dawn Friday left 10 dead at the Flamengo Training Center, in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro. Among the victims, are reportedly football players ranging from 14 to 17 years old, who were allegedly asleep at the facility's lodging.
There is still no official information on what caused the fire. However, the blaze has already been placed under control.
Since there are also 3 people in serious condition and several still missing, it is not ruled out that the death toll may increase in the coming hours, Mundo Deportivo stated.
According to TV Globo, the areas affected by the fire are an old part of the Urubu Nest, which served as accommodation for the lower categories of the Flamengo outfit.
The West Zone of Rio de Janeiro was also affected with the strong rainy condition Wednesday. As a result of the heavy rains, the Urubu's Nest continued without light and water Friday morning.
