After the incident, arrangements were made by the Accident Investigation Board of Army Aviation to immediately go to the scene of the event in order to determine the cause of the accident.
The Peruvian Army Command reported that a helicopter accident occurred Friday in the province of Condorcanqui, Amazonas while carrying out humanitarian de-mining operations on the border with Ecuador.
As a result of the crash, one soldier and one policeman died. The victims were identified as Aldo Castillo Morales and Richard Aucapoma Chavez. The accident involved an MI-171 SH helicopter and took place at about 4:00 p.m.
Two sub-officers of the Peruvian Army and National Police of Peru were also injured. They were identified as Nilver Becerra Tello and Hugo Wilfredo Lopez Mariño. The injured men were transported to a facility in Jaen for medical attention.

After the incident, arrangements were made by the Accident Investigation Board of Army Aviation to go to the scene in order to determine the cause of the accident. According to a report by the Joint Command of the Armed Forces, the Board will also provide support for the transfer and burial of the deceased, as well as the care and recovery of those that were injured.
The Ministry of Defense and the Army Command express their deepest condolences to the relatives of the soldiers who lost their lives in this accident.
