Five civilians were killed and 18 others were wounded in an attack on the municipality of Masyaf, 40 km west of the city of Hama.

Local sources reported that rebel groups, located in the northern areas of Hama and the southern region of Idleb, launched several missiles towards the outskirts of Masyaf on Sunday morning.

Students coming out of school and employees from their workplace were subjected to many indiscriminate missiles fired by the rebels on Masyaf. The attacks also caused material damage to civilian infrastructure and private houses.

The Syrian Arab News Agency report five people dead and more than 15 others wounded as result of this attack by the rebels.

The Idelb province is the last major opposition stronghold in the country. Since the beginning of the civil war in Syria, the province's population increased from 1 million to approximately 3 million people.

A ceasefire, supported by Russia, was concluded a year ago in order to avoid a humanitarian catastrophe. Nevertheless, the truce was suspended in Jan. 2019  when  Hayat Tahrir al-Sham seized control of the area.
