41 Lives and a Trace of Destruction Are the Results of the Pass of Hurricane Helene in Southeastern of U.S

Helene, who on Thursday night entered as a powerful category 4 hurricane through the northwest coast of Florida, has so far claimed 41 lives, a count that may rise, and is leaving a trail of destruction across the southeastern United States.

The cyclone has killed seven people in Florida, 15 in Georgia and 17 in South Carolina, including two firefighters, state governor Henry McMaster said on Friday.
In North Carolina, two fatalities have been confirmed so far, one of them a child under four years old.
By Friday afternoon, more than 4.6 million people were without power in a dozen states, while thousands of workers were removing rubble, weeds and repairing electricity poles to restore electrical power.
Almost a thousand flights were cancelled in the U.S., with the vast majority of departures or arrivals scheduled at the international airports of Charlotte (North Carolina), Atlanta (Georgia) and Tampa (Florida).
Some localities in the south, such as Steinhatchee, a small fishing village still recovering from August of last year’s Hurricane Idalia, saw some homes and businesses destroyed by falling trees or by the force of the winds.
Hurricane Mary made landfall after 11:00 AM local time (3:00 GMT on Friday) near the town of Perry in northwestern Florida’s Big Bend region, with sustained maximum winds of 225 kilometers per hour (140 miles).
