Sudanese Army Launches an Offensive Against RSF in North Darfur

The Sudanese Army launched an offensive against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, on Sunday after three months of defensive one of the last army strongholds in the Sudanese region.

Spokesman for the Joint Forces in Darfur, Ahmed Hussein Mustafa, told to the Spansh news agency EFE that the attack coincided with the arrival of military reinforcements in El Fasher, which has been under siege by the RSF since April.
Mustafa claimed that the Armed Forces and their allied militias had managed to completely destroy enemy positions and advance at all time”, as well as confirming the arrival of more reinforcements in the area.
Witnesses in El Fasher said a convoy of Sudanese army combat vehicles had arrived in the city, where dozens of citizens had come to receive the vehicles, carrying hundreds of armed men on board, with gestures and victory songs.
A military officer from the 6th Army Infantry Division also said that they had managed to dislodge the RSF from most of their concentration areas east of Al Fasher.
“Our forces are now positioned in northern Al Fasher after the RSF was defeated at the Abuja displaced camp, added the officer.
During these clashes, the city of Al Fasher was subjected to intermittent artillery bombardments by paramilitaries, especially at the Abu Shouk camp for displaced persons.
A representative of the Red Crescent told Efe that the bombing had caused at least four deaths and wounded 13 others who were taken to hospital.
