7.0 Earthquake is Registred in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski, Russia

The telluric movement occurred about 90 kilometers east of the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) recorded a magnitude 7.0 earthquake in the Kamchatka peninsula, at the eastern tip of Russia, early on Sunday morning (local time).

According to the entity, the telluric movement occurred at a depth of about 50 kilometers, in waters located opposite the peninsula and about 90 kilometers east of the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatski. The US authorities have issued a tsunami warning.

The branch of the Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Kamchatka, for its part, stated that inhabitants of the regional capital felt earthquakes of up to six magnitudes.

According to the correspondent of the Russian agency TASS in the region, residents of the region inhabitants left their homes due to the magnitude of the earthquake.

The local branch of the Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences indicated that a 4.7 magnitude replica took place at 07H21 (local time).

Before the fact, the Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the Chilean Navy (SHOA), ruled out the possible occurrence of a tsunami on the southern coast of the country after the earthquake.

According to the entity, the event does not meet the conditions to affect the Chilean coasts with a tsunami.
