teleSUR has always been breaking the news on big events, not only in Latin America but around the world. For the last nine years we have been covering important news and information, reporting the truth internationally.

  1. 2005

    Historia teleSUR broadcasts from the Teresa Carreño Theater in Caracas, Venezuela for the first time. Its advisory board was made up of notable figures such as the Nobel Peace Prize winner, Adolfo Pérez Esquivel, and the journalist Ignacio Ramonet.

  2. 2006

    Historia The purchase of the CMT channel to use it as headquarters is announced.

  3. 2007

    Historia The teleSUR signal reaches Cuba through “Canal Educativo 2”. A new headquarters is inaugurated in Caracas, where its staff and network of collaborators were expanded.

  4. 2008

    Historia teleSUR was present in important coverages such as the attack on the FARC camp, where Raúl Reyes, a member of the secretariat of that group, died.

  5. 2009

    Historia The coverage of the coup against then-president Manuel Zelaya in Honduras marks teleSUR's seal as an international news channel. teleSUR was the only media outlet that broadcast what was happening to the world. Starting this year, teleSUR becomes a multiplatform media outlet, with its own website and access to social networks.

  6. 2010

    Historia teleSUR provided exclusive coverage of the humanitarian operation to unilaterally release prisoners held by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). In July, teleSUR's signal was expanded to 123 countries in Europe, the Middle East, and part of Africa thanks to its inclusion in the Hotbird satellite.

    Historia Through the cameras of teleSUR in Tripoli, Libya, amid the invasion of that country, it was possible to tell the story that was being made invisible. The hegemonic narrative of the media at that time was that Gaddafi was bombing his people. teleSUR reached a Tripoli that had not been bombed and in which, on the contrary, people were actively participating in the square of that capital. The first season of the program “Causa Justa”, hosted by Piedad Córdoba, was aired, which meant a milestone in terms of production, since it was recorded in High-Definition quality.

  8. 2012

    Historia On February 4, teleSUR inaugurates its new studios for its newscasts. From that date on, news broadcasts take on a new, much more personalized concept. Likewise, thematic programs such as Justo al medio, Atomun, Congénero (By Gender), Guía tu cuerpo (Guide your Body), Entre fronteras (Between Borders) were launched, with the objective of being a channel that generates information, but also seeks to reach young people and other audiences.

    Historia teleSUR changes its logo and refreshes its image, aiming for a more modern and minimalist one. The crystals in the new logo also represent the different aspects of the news, aspects that teleSUR shows in its different news broadcasts. It also opened correspondent offices in Cairo, Beijing, Brasilia, and Moscow. It also enters the Sat Mex6 satellite, which allowed it to have a presence in Mexico and the United States' southern states.

    Historia teleSUR's website is launched in English, with a professional team taking on the challenge of reaching an English-speaking audience.

  11. 2015

    Historia This year, teleSUR celebrates its tenth anniversary by offering quality multimedia programming in English and Spanish. Twelve hours of continuous programming for our English-speaking audience and innovative proposals on our Spanish-language platform make teleSUR accessible to millions of people with just one click. In January 2015, the program De Zurda returned to our screens, with world soccer star Diego Armando Maradona from Havana, on his way to the 2015 Copa América in Chile.

    Historia teleSUR In Brazil, the coup d'état is consummated and the Senate dismisses the then-president Dilma Rousseff.

    Historia The HD era, we started broadcasting in High-Definition (HD) format.

    Historia teleSUR English grows, reaching more than 20 countries in Africa. “Connecting The Global South”.

    Historia teleSUR wins in Mexico (National Journalism Award), for coverage during the caravan of Central American migrants in 2018.

    Historia We inaugurated the first Production Center in Havana – Cuba.
