In a global context marked by the emergence of a multipolar world and resistance to hegemonic policies, the Executive Secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), Jorge Arreaza, denounced this Friday from Havana, Cuba, the escalation of imperialist actions seeking to impose their dominance through force.
In an exclusive interview with Telesur, Arreaza emphasized the importance of strengthening unity and coordination among regional countries to face these challenges.
“Imperialism, in a practically fascist phase, is attempting to reclaim a power that is already irrecoverable. Its only tool is imposition and force, but Our America has the capacity to respond with unity and coordinated policies for the benefit of our peoples,” stated Arreaza.
The ALBA-TCP Executive Secretary highlighted that, in light of recent imperialist attacks, the Alliance and Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro have called for an extraordinary summit of the regional bloc this coming Monday, February 3.
This meeting will not only address ALBA’s strategic agenda, which includes issues such as health, complementary trade, artificial intelligence, and the development of new technologies, but will also seek to defend the rights of migrant populations, promote peace, and respect the sovereignty of member countries.
“ALBA is a unique space where sovereign peoples and governments join forces to face any challenge. In this case, the challenge is the new phase of imposition that Washington is attempting to enforce,” Arreaza noted.
Regarding a possible dialogue with the United States, the regional leader stressed that any approach must be based on the moral and ethical strength of Latin American and Caribbean peoples. “Dialogue with them will only have an effect if it is grounded in ethical and moral principles, not in submission,” he added.
Arreaza also called for strengthening complementarity among Alliance members, leveraging the economic and productive advantages of each nation. In this regard, he announced the upcoming inauguration in Venezuela of a technological center for the development of technologies serving ALBA-TCP.
“This center will be a space where countries like Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia, and Nicaragua will exchange capabilities to develop infrastructure in areas such as artificial intelligence, always guided by ethical, solidarity-based, and human-respecting values,” he explained.
The Executive Secretary reiterated that the world is experiencing a crucial moment in which multipolarism is no longer an emerging idea but a reality gaining momentum. “Multipolarism is not being born; it is running through history,” he affirmed.
Additionally, Arreaza recalled that ALBA-TCP has a newly created cooperation agency, which will seek unconditional funding for projects in areas such as health, education, production, housing, and social infrastructure. “This agency is a key tool to meet the needs of our peoples and strengthen our independence,” he stated.
Finally, regarding the VI International Conference for World Equilibrium, held in Cuba from January 28 to 31, Arreaza highlighted the importance of these initiatives promoted by the Cuban Revolution. “From ALBA-TCP, we are committed to turning proposals into concrete actions that contribute to the transformation of humanity,” he concluded.
The extraordinary ALBA-TCP summit thus stands as a key space to consolidate regional unity and address the challenges imposed by a transitioning international system.
