The member states of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) categorically condemn the imposition of unilateral coercive measures by the United States government against Venezuelan citizens. The statement was disseminated by the Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, through his social networks.

In the statement, it is stated that less than two months before the presidential elections in Venezuela, in which the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela was re-elected, Nicolás Maduro, the US government has not stopped attacking the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in its eagerness to impose a change of government, against the will of the Venezuelan people.
“Today, Venezuela is beginning with 16 citizens who have been unilaterally sanctioned for the simple fact of fulfilling their functions and, basically, for being Venezuelans and not acting in favor of a Venezuelan political sector, who has a known history of being extremist and fascist and who has always vociferated to be in favour of interventionism and the violation of international law, before assuming his defeat”.
Point out to the representatives of the Alliance that these measures are not only an attack on the 16 persons punished; “This criminal and illegal practice of the United States Government against States which does not act in their interest, alters the economic and political stability of this country and the entire region”.
That is why ALBA-TCP strongly repudiates this new attack against public officials, their human and civil rights and the Venezuelan nation in general, It undermines the peace and tranquillity of all Latin America and the Caribbean, and calls on regional governments to reject these measures and to promote diplomacy and respect for the self-determination of peoples.
The Bolivarian Alliance demands respect for the sovereignty of the free peoples of Our America and the Caribbean, while reaffirming its unreserved support and solidarity with the people and the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
