A series of actions reveal the execution of electoral fraud in the midst of a ‘State of Exception’.
On Sunday, over 13.7 million Ecuadorians were called to elect their next president in a runoff election between Citizen Revolution candidate Luisa Gonzalez and President Daniel Noboa, who was seeking reelection.

In the weeks leading up to the election and on election day itself, polls indicated Gonzalez would be the next president of Ecuador. Once the official vote count began at 5:00 p.m., however, President Noboa began to lead, surprising millions of Ecuadorians. Hours later, the National Electoral Council (CNE) announced Noboa as the winner of the 2025 presidential election.
In response to the events, the Citizen Revolution candidate stated that she does not recognize the results presented by the CNE, asserted that fraud was committed in the voter registration process, and demanded a thorough and complete recount.
Also surprised by the events, national and international social and political organizations expressed their rejection of the disrespect for the democratic will of Ecuadorians, who went to vote amid a 60-day “State of Exception” declared just hours earlier, which restricts basic political and civil rights. The following is the reaction of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA-TCP):
“In view of the development of the second round of elections for the Presidency and Vice-Presidency of the Republic of Ecuador, organized under a biased and unusual decree of state of exception having an important impact on the provinces with the greatest popular electoral tradition, in a context of general intimidation of the people and open advantage by the government of Daniel Noboa, the Executive Secretariat of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA-TCP) categorically condemns these irregular actions that suggest the execution of a clear premeditated electoral fraud.
The ALBA-TCP Executive Secretariat highlights the democratic spirit of the Ecuadorian people in the defense of their sovereignty and democracy and supports the demand for a review of the electoral process, through a rigorous investigation, including a comprehensive audit of all procedures and measures, as well as the corresponding and transparent recount of the votes cast. This is the only way to guarantee respect for the will of the people and peace in the sister Republic of Ecuador.”
