At that meeting, the leaders referred to the events that took place on June 26 in Bolivia, where former commander Juan José Zúñiga tried to overthrow President Arce through a coup.

In a statement, the heads of state highlighted the position and courage of President Luis Arce Catacora, president of Bolivia, in confronting the leader of the failed coup attempt, the former General Juan José Zúñiga.

They also affirmed how important the spontaneous mobilization of the people was to defend democracy in La Paz.

“That the courageous position of President Luis Arce Catacora, the spontaneous people’s mobilization, the announcement of the social movements to stage a national road blockade and an indefinite general strike in defense of the democratically elected government, and the immediate rejection of the international community, were key elements for the defeat of this attempted coup”, said the statement.

“Our firm rejection of any coup d’état or attempted coup d’état, in any form, as they represent a threat to democracy, to the constitutional order, to social peace and to the well-being of the people,” the Alliance said.

Likewise, the Alliance reiterated its rejection of the disrespectful statements of President Javier Milei of Argentina.
