The member states of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) issued a statement in which they categorically reject the recent decision of President Donald Trump to revoke the order of January 14 that removed Cuba from the list of countries allegedly sponsoring terrorism.
The statement asserts that “former President Joe Biden publicly acknowledged what the international community has always found: that Cuba does not sponsor terrorism and has always fought against this scourge in any form.”
This statement highlights the incongruity of the measure adopted by the current U.S. administration, which is described as “arrogant” and an act that demonstrates “the level of ridicule and contempt towards the Latin American and Caribbean peoples.”
ALBA-TCP also criticizes the policies of the Trump administration, describing them as “erratic, abusive, criminal, and illegal measures” that are imposed in a “totally brazen and unpunished” manner.
In this sense, the statement emphasizes that these actions promote hatred and provoke “deep deprivation for the purpose of domination.”
Finally, the Bolivarian Alliance expresses its “absolute solidarity with the firm determination of sovereignty and dignity” of the Cuban people, demanding the immediate withdrawal of Cuba from this list, which they consider “made to the ideologized measure of imperialism.”
This statement reaffirms the commitment of member countries to defend Cuba’s sovereignty and rights against what they consider external aggression.
