In the context of the 20th anniversary of ALBA-TCP, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro delivered an initial speech in which he highlighted several topics. Among them, he discussed the social and economic development of the region and reaffirmed his commitment to the recovery of Haiti.
During the inauguration of the 20th anniversary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Treaty on Trade of Peoples (ALBA-TCP), President Maduro emphasized the historical importance of this organization, affirming that its creation has enabled the development of unprecedented economic and social programs in the region.
President Maduro stressed that ALBA has a firm commitment to the recovery of Haiti, assuring that efforts will be made to restore peace, work, and prosperity in the Caribbean nation. He indicated that this effort is essential for helping Haiti regain its stability and democracy, as well as improving its social and economic conditions.
The Venezuelan president also highlighted ALBA’s achievements in areas such as health, education, and the economy, announcing a new political and social offensive with the activation of programs aimed at achieving a “new spring” for the organization.
Among the initiatives presented, Maduro reported on a new PETROCARIBE modality that will focus on the production of oil, gas, and their derivatives, seeking to strengthen energy cooperation among member countries.
Additionally, President Maduro condemned the attacks in Gaza, pointing out that they are carried out with advanced technology and criticized the inaction of international bodies such as the UN and the International Court of Justice. He affirmed that, despite adversity, peoples have the right to life and peace.
