Algeria: Security Service’s Arrest Four Suspected Terrorist

The Algerian army’s security services arrested four suspected terrorists in the Sahel region in the southern province of Tamanraset (sixth military region), the Ministry of Defence announced on Thursday.

In a press release, the source stated that the four alleged terrorists whom he identified as Ibrahim Skuni, alias “Taqlo”, Mohamed Laalawi, alias “Wadha”, Ahmed Laalawi, alias “Jetab” and Ahmida Takrazi, alias “Didi” were arrested by the “Optimal exploitation of information”.
While another suspected terrorist identified as Ukba Sayed Ammar, alias “Abu Naser” was handed over to the military authorities in the Bordj Badji operational sector and in his possession a Kalashnikov-type assault rifle, two magazines full of ammunition and a portable communication device.
Defense announced that during the past year, the Algerian army killed 16 alleged jihadist-style terrorists and arrested 417 people who offered support to suspected terrorist groups throughout the country.
The source indicated that during various counter-terrorism operations, Algerian army personnel destroyed 37 safe havens for groups of suspected terrorists and seized 136 firearms, 169 shells and 95 bombs of various types, as well as “huge” quantities of ammunition.
