Angola’s Health Minister, Sílvia Lutucuta, has advocated the creation of an industry to manufacture vaccines and medical products in Africa, Jornal de Angola reported today.

Speaking at the 74th session of the Regional Committee of the World Health Organization (WHO) for the African continent, held in Brazzaville, capital of the Republic of the Congo, the speaker pointed out the need for immunogenics, and the decrease in costs from the nearest availability.
Lutucuta stressed that vaccination is one of the pillars of primary health care and disease prevention, and she appreciated the support given by the Regional Committee to Angola for polio control.
The minister said that WHO in the African region is attentive to countries affected by various epidemics, which were gradually overcome thanks to wise management and the height of the challenges, he appreciated.
In this regard, he considered that the epidemic of Siberian smallpox (Mpox) currently living on the continent can be overcome equally with a coordinated action.
