The Yemeni resistance movement Ansarullah, widely recognized for its staunch support for Palestine and opposition to Zionism, has rejected the terrorist designation imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump just hours after he assumed office.

Nasr al-Din Amer, the deputy press director of Ansarullah, denounced the U.S. administration for targeting Yemen due to its unwavering support for Gaza, framing the move as direct backing for Zionism.
“The designation as a terrorist organization is an honor for us and a testament to Yemen’s integral role in the fight against Israeli occupation,” Amer declared.

Amer dismissed the potential impact of the designation, pointing out that Ansarullah has no investments, bank accounts, or business dealings within the U.S., and its fighters do not travel to the country.
He also quipped that being labeled a U.S. ally would pose far greater risks and be much more provocative than being branded a terrorist organization.

The Palestinian Mujahideen Movement condemned the U.S. decision, asserting that it reflects Washington’s bias toward Israel.

“This confirms that the United States is a key partner in the ethnic cleansing and genocide committed by Zionist criminals in Gaza,” the movement stated.

The Mujahideen Movement praised the Yemenis for their solidarity with the resistance in Gaza and described Trump’s designation as “a badge of honor and proof that they are on the right path.”

President Trump signed an executive order on Wednesday re-designating Ansarullah as a “Foreign Terrorist Organization.” This marks the second time the U.S. has applied this label to the group; Trump initially imposed the designation during his first term (2017–2021). However, former President Joe Biden removed Ansarullah from the list during his administration (2021–2025).
The new designation is set to take effect within 30 days.

Since November 2023, Ansarullah has intensified its actions in support of Gaza, targeting Israeli military and strategic assets. These operations have included strikes on occupied Palestinian territories and attacks on Israeli-flagged ships or vessels supplying Israel. The strikes have occurred in the Red Sea, the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and surrounding areas.

The decision by the Trump administration has drawn criticism from regional actors who view it as an extension of U.S. support for Israel’s policies in Palestine. It also risks further escalating tensions in Yemen and the broader Middle East, where Ansarullah has positioned itself as a key opponent of Zionism and U.S. influence.

Ansarullah’s defiance underscores the group’s resolve to continue its resistance against what it perceives as oppressive forces, framing the U.S. designation as a symbol of its commitment to Palestine and the broader anti-Zionist struggle.
