April 16th marks a somber day in Yemen’s history, commemorating the war crimes committed by the coalition led by the United States, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
Since the beginning of the aggression in 2015, this day has witnessed devastating attacks that have claimed the lives of dozens of civilians and caused massive destruction to hospitals, schools, markets, and communication networks across various governorates of the country.
In 2015, bombings in the city of Houth, in Amran Governorate, resulted in 32 deaths and dozens of injuries. Similar attacks in Saada and Sana’a destroyed homes, educational and commercial facilities, while bombings in other regions continued to cause significant damage.
Over the years, April 16th has been marked by airstrikes and missile attacks that have devastated communities in governorates such as Al-Hodeidah, Ma’rib, Taiz, and Hajjah.
In 2018, six civilians were killed in an airstrike in Al-Ha’it; in 2019, a child lost his life and seven others were injured during an attack led by Saudi Arabia. The ongoing aggression has left a devastating toll on Yemen, worsening the humanitarian crisis and deepening the suffering of its people.
This day serves as a reminder of the urgent need for a peaceful solution and an end to hostilities that have profoundly affected the lives of millions of Yemenis.
