‘Milei, you’re not just a crypto scammer. You’re also a scammer in interviews,’ Christina Fernandez-Kirchner stressed.

On Tuesday, former Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner (2007-2015) criticized President Javier Milei for his involvement in the $LIBRA cryptocurrency scam.

“You’re falling apart,” the leftist leader told Milei, referring to the public ridicule and threats of legal action against Milei for his role in the ‘Crypto Fiasco’ triggered when a virtual currency collapsed, leaving thousands of investors harmed worldwide.

“The scam would not have happened without your post on X promoting the Libra crypto, three minutes after its creation, pinned for five hours, and including a Uniform Banking Code to operate,” she pointed out.

On February 14, Milei posted on his X account—where he has 3.8 million followers—a message announcing the ‘Viva la Libertad Project,’ a private initiative through which transactions with the $Libra cryptocurrency were supposedly intended to fund investments in small businesses.

After thousands of people lost their money in a Ponzi-like scam, the Argentine president did not take responsibility for the victims, whom he labeled as “volatility operators” and compared to casino gamblers.

Fernandez-Kirchner also referenced a televised interview in which Milei defended the $Libra cryptocurrency project by comparing the losses experienced by investors to what happens in a casino, where participants must accept the possibility of losing money as normal.

“So, which is it? Was your post on X meant to help Argentine SMEs? Or was it actually to lure speculators to bet in the casino set up by you, your sister, and your associates?” Fernandez de Kirchner asked Milei.

The leftist leader also mentioned a segment of a TV program with journalist Jony Viale and Javier Milei, which was not broadcast by the network but later circulated on social media. In the interview one of Milei’s advisors interrupted the conversation to prevent the Argentine president from saying something that could legally implicate him.

“Milei, you’re not just a cryptocurrency scammer. You’re also a scammer in interviews. It was a puppet show where Jony Viale obeyed, and you repeated,” Fernandez-Kirchner stressed.

“They set up an interview to clean up your image. They brought in a friendly ‘journalist,’ prepared the questions, and intervened in the interview because what you were saying ‘could bring you legal trouble.’ Never have we seen anything like this!,” she added.
