Argentinians Demonstrate Against Milei’s Offensive Commentaries Against Minorities

The “Federal March of Anti-Fascist and Anti-Racist Pride”, organized in response to the violent speech by Argentine President Javier Milei at the economic forum in Davos, begins this Saturday from 16:00:00 local time, with the Congress as a meeting point to march towards Plaza de Mayo.

The call is joined by 1,000 adherents from all over the country and the world, with at least 33 LGTB and feminist organizations, 50 universities and student centers, 30 neighborhood assemblies, 25 human rights organizations, More than a hundred trade unions and almost all political fronts.

In the first line of the demonstration will be the trans collectives, the Mothers and Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo, retirees, children, people with disabilities, anti-racist and racialized activists, indigenous peoples, and migrants. Following this first block will be social organizations, unions, and the political parties affiliated with the meeting will close the march.

It is noteworthy that among the last groups to join the call is the Catholic Church of Mendoza, which, through the Pastoral of Sexual Diversity, invited people to join the mobilization and expressed concern about the hate speech of Javier Milei recently at the Davos Forum in Switzerland.

In addition, in Lisbon, dozens of people protested for the rights of the LGTBI community in Argentina and against the recent statements by President Javier Milei, which were considered discriminatory. Most of the participants were Argentines, accompanied by some Portuguese.

The demonstration took place in front of the Argentine Embassy in Jardim do Arco do Cego, with a vigilant but discreet police presence. Participants displayed Argentine and LGTBI pride flags, along with posters denouncing fascism and promoting resistance.

The call was by the association “Argentina in struggle” near the Centre Pompidou, where Argentine and rainbow flags were raised. The attendees denounced Milei’s “fascist policy” and pointed out that his propaganda deceives the world about his plan.

In addition, a group of Argentines joined a demonstration in London against the far right, protesting Milei’s views on gender ideology and same-sex couples.
