A complete halt to foreign military aid is ‘the key’ condition for working toward a political-diplomatic resolution.
On Thursday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova warned that the U.S. decision to resume arms supplies to Ukraine contradicts its plans to achieve a peaceful settlement to the conflict.

“The supply of weapons to the Kiev regime goes against its declared intentions of achieving peace and steering everything toward a diplomatic settlement. Whoever wants peace will naturally advocate for ending the militarization of the terrorist gang,” she stressed.
This week, during a phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that a complete halt to foreign military aid is the “key condition” for avoiding an escalation of the conflict and working toward a political-diplomatic resolution.
“It is a matter of principle. We hope they listen in Washington,” the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson said.
In early March, Trump suspended military aid to Kiev after discussing the matter with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House. However, a week later, the U.S. president resumed military aid.
During his phone conversation with Zelensky on Wednesday, Trump agreed to help him increase the supply of Patriot air defense batteries.
The Kremlin insisted this week that Putin and Trump did, in fact, discuss the complete cessation of Western military aid to Ukraine during their phone call on Tuesday, a claim later denied by the U.S. president.
Trump told Fox News after the conversation that the topic had not been discussed and that Putin had never made such a demand. “No, he didn’t. We didn’t talk about aid. Actually, we didn’t talk about aid at all. We talked about many things, but aid was never mentioned,” the U.S. president stated.
