At Least 10 Deaths and 5 Wounded After the Collapse of a Mine in Zambia

Five others are recovering from their wounds after being buried alive in the open pit of Devine Bookers.
Local authorities in Zambia reported on Monday that at least ten people were killed and five others injured by the collapse of an open-pit mine located in the southeast in Luili, a constituency of Nangoma.

«Ten people died and five more are recovering from their wounds in (the town of) Mumbwa after being buried alive today (Monday) in the open well of Devine Bookers,» said the Zambia Daily Mail, on its social network X account.
According to the police of the African country, an undetermined number of people came to carry out mining activities and during the course of them, the earth collapsed on them.
On the other hand, unconfirmed reports indicate that the death toll is 30.
So far, the rescue devices recovered have recovered 10 bodies; of these, one was taken to the morgue at the Nangoma Mission Hospital, while nine other bodies have been moved to the morgue at the Mumbwa Hospital.
In addition, they reported that emergency and rescue teams are trying to find survivors or bodies.
