The government of the state of North Kordofan, in central Sudan, reported that the RSF shelled the city of Al Obeid, the state capital controlled by the Army, killing eight people and injuring 23 others.

In a statement, it noted that among the dead are five members of the same family, including three children, in the city, which was retaken last month by the Army.

On the other hand, authorities in the state of West Kordofan, in the south and bordering South Sudan, said that the RSF attacked the city of Al Khawi, where at least seven people died. So far, the paramilitaries have not reacted to this information.

The war in Sudan, which started in April 2023, has caused tens of thousands of deaths and forced more than 12 million people to leave their homes to escape violence, while another 3 million have sought refuge in other countries.

Earlier last week, The Sudanese Army Deputy Commander, Yaser Atta, indicated that the regular forces were conducting “ferocious operations” in the three states of Kordofan in south-central Sudan, and then advancing to recover the vast western region of Darfur, the current stronghold of the paramilitaries in the country and where they control four of its five demarcations.

On the other hand, in Khartoum, the army has expanded its operations on the north, east and south axes, military sources told EFE, who explained that soldiers have managed to enter the Burri area for the first time, to the east of the Central Command of the Armed Forces and the airport of the capital, controlled by the FAR.
