At Least 41 People Die From Heat in Eastern India

In the last 72 hours alone, authorities have reported eight deaths caused by high temperatures.
The death toll from heatstroke in eastern India’s Odisha State has risen to 41 people since early summer, a statement from the Odisha State Emergency Operations Center reported.

It is expected that this figure could rise to more than 100 if the authorities confirm dozens more bodies pending autopsy.
In the current season, 159 suspected heatstroke deaths have been recorded. 45 cases have been ruled out and another 73 are under review.

India Meteorological Department issued heat wave forecast, The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast of heat wave between 10th and 14th June! The department has also given some precautions to avoid this. It suggests drinking water continuously and wearing thin clothes.
Odisha has suffered several severe heat waves this summer, which in Indian territory covers between April and June, with temperatures reaching over 45 degrees in several localities.
Such figures are unusual in this coastal state, so along with moisture combine to trigger the risk of heat shock.
