According to the organization linked to the Catholic Church, this was the fourth attack in the last seven days on this community, based in the Tekoha Guasu Guavira indigenous land, between the municipalities of Guairá and Terra Roxa, in the southern state of Paraná.

A 4-year-old boy was injured in one leg, as was another adult; while a young man was wounded in the back and another adult was shot in the jaw “with large calibre ammunition”, according to the CIMI statement.

Local press media reported that all the wounded were taken to the Bom Jesus Hospital in Toledo, Paraná, and according to images disseminated by the indigenous show that the young man’s wound with a shot in the chin is serious, but he does not risk death.

The indigenous reported that the hitters arrived in the community by a route that, at that time, was not being monitored by the National Force, since since November 2024, the federal force must protect the indigenous, as determined by the Ministry of Justice.

The attacked village is part of the Guasu Guavirá Indigenous Land, recognized by FUNAI in 2018, but whose demarcation has been stagnant for eight years. The Ava Guaraní, whose promises were not kept, occupied their traditional territory on 5 July, intensifying the conflict with recent attacks that have left significant material damage and injuries.

The situation was aggravated by the installation of a non-indigenous camp in the area to intimidate the indigenous. Within a week, several violent attacks were reported, including shootings and arson, leading to the intervention of the Federal Police.
