Attorney General Says Presidential Elections Are the Least Affected in Seven Years

Venezuela’s Attorney General, Tarek William Saab, called Sunday’s presidential election the «least-affected» in the last seven years, according to statements made through a social media transmission.

We have been watching and monitoring this historic day. We can say that, in the last seven years, this has been the electoral process with minor incidents; I ask for applause for the people of Venezuela», Saab said, highlighting the fluidity of the electoral process.

The attorney general emphasized on the efficiency of the event, noting that «it has been a fast and neat process in the streamlining of the human right to vote».

He also mentioned the joint work with election observers: We are in contact with most national and international election observers. They have seen the joy of our people».

Saab recalled the importance of respecting official channels for the disclosure of results: «The only one that can give results is the Electoral Power with its president». He also called for national unity, stating that «29 July must be a day of joy and family union».

The Attorney General reported that the civil service has been instructed to continue monitoring the electoral process during the following day, ensuring a continuous monitoring of the democratic event.
