Barbados Celebrates New Direct Route with Conviasa’s Inaugural Airbus A340 Flight from Venezuela

On Saturday, October 12th, Barbados marked a significant milestone in its aviation history with the arrival of Conviasa’s first Airbus A340-200 flight from Venezuela. This new service promises to enhance connectivity between the two nations, offering a substantial increase in passenger capacity.
The Airbus A340-200, which can accommodate up to 250 passengers, significantly outstrips the previous Embraer 190 aircraft that typically serviced this route, which holds a maximum of just 100 passengers. This expansion reflects Conviasa’s commitment to enhancing its fleet and improving travel options for passengers.
Among the distinguished guests on board was H.E. Aquinas Clarke, the Ambassador of Barbados to Venezuela, who was welcomed by a notable delegation. This included Mrs. Martha Gabriela Ortega Peraza, Chargé d’Affaires at the Venezuelan Embassy in Bridgetown, along with Mr. César Benedetti, First Secretary at the same embassy. Mr. Corey Garrett, Director of Latin America at the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI), and Mr. Fernando Azuaje, Station Chief at Conviasa in Barbados, were also present to greet the flight.
The welcoming committee was further enriched by participants from the Venetur/Conviasa Familiarization trip currently taking place in Barbados. Among them were Estefanía Lattasa, Senior Clerk at the Barbados Embassy in Venezuela; Anderson Bonillas, Marketing Manager at Conviasa; and Katherine Álvarez, Analyst at Conviasa.
As a gesture of goodwill and collaboration between the two countries, representatives from Barbados exchanged gifts with the crew of flight VO 3702. This symbolic act underscored the strengthening ties and mutual appreciation between Barbados and Venezuela as they embark on this new journey together.
