Golovchenko was received at Simon Bolivar Airport by the Venezuelan Foreign Affairs Minister Yvan Gil, with whom he had a brief meeting, the details of which were not disclosed.

“We are pleased to welcome the Prime Minister, with whom we will hold a series of meetings to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and cooperation between our peoples,” said Gil.

This is an official visit, in which a Belarusian delegation is also participating, with the aim of strengthening relations through a “productive work agenda.”

Golovchenko is expected to visit the Mountain Barracks, where the remains of the late President Hugo Chavez (1999-2013) rest, and to hold meetings with representatives of the Legislative branch.

The Venezuelan Government has called the press for a joint statement to be held on Monday between the Belarusian official and the Venezuelan Planning Minister Ricardo Menendez.

At the end of November 2023, a Venezuelan delegation held the 9th High-Level Joint Commission between both countries in the city of Minsk, as part of actions taken by both governments to reinvigorate strategic cooperation relations.

Caracas and Minsk maintain a cooperative relationship that was strengthened in November 2023 when they signed 13 agreements in various areas and established a work plan for the next 10 years.
