Brazilian far-righter leader Jair Bolsonaro remains “clinically stable,” but is still unable to receive food orally because “he has not yet presented spontaneous bowel movements,” according to the medical report released this Saturday.

The former president, hospitalized since April 14 in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital in Brasilia after undergoing surgery on his intestine, remains with no discharge forecast and with restricted visits, but performs physiotherapy exercises daily.
According to the medical bulletin, the former head of state continues with treatment to control the liver alterations he registered two days ago, when he also suffered a pressure spike.
The doctors explained that Bolsonaro’s inability to receive food orally is due to the fact that “signs of gastroparesis (delayed gastric emptying) persist,” which “temporarily prevents oral or gastric tube feeding.”
Bolsonaro underwent surgery on his intestine on April 13, which lasted twelve hours, after complaining of intense pain during a political event in which he was seeking support for an amnesty project for those convicted of the attempted coup on January 8, 2023.
The far-right leader has suffered recurrent digestive problems since September 6, 2018, when, in the midst of the campaign for the presidential elections of that year, he was stabbed in the abdominal region by a mentally ill person.
Since then, as a result of that attack, he has already undergone surgery six times to correct problems in his stomach and intestinal tract.
