The body assured that the bodies of 42 victims are already in the hands of their relatives, while the rest will be delivered this Thursday.

Of the total number of victims, «40 were identified by fingerprint examination and the others by analysis of their dental records or other physical characteristics».

Regarding this process, the IML’s Superintendent of Technical and Scientific Police, Claudinei Salomão, explained that although genetic samples were obtained from the relatives of all the deceased, «it was not necessary to use genetic comparison methods to identify them».

«The identification processes did not require complementary DNA tests because our experience allowed us to compare bodies with pre-existing data, such as fingerprints or radiological images of victims», he stressed.

The forensic doctors who examined the bodies also indicated that despite the explosion of the airship after the crash, none of the bodies were found completely charred.

Regarding the investigation process of the accident, the team of experts stated that they were able to recover «all information contained in the black boxes of the aircraft» and assured that within 30 days they will provide a preliminary report.

Some media have reproduced excerpts from the black box recording where the pilot said that the plane had no power; however, on Thursday, the Brazilian Air Force indicated that «so far no media has had access to the contents of the black boxes».
