Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday that the BRICS are one of the key elements of the new world order, which takes into account the interests of all states of the South and the Global East.

During his speech at the X Parliamentary Forum of the Brics held in the Russian city of Saint Petersburg, the Russian president stressed that the group is open to nations interested in its activities.

“The Brics are one of the key elements of the emerging multipolar world order, which increasingly reflects the interests and aspirations of the Southern and Eastern Global states. We are open to strengthening cooperation with all countries that express interest in the group’s activities,” he said.

Also, the head of State indicated that work is being done “to establish a category of partner states», while ratifying that, as president of the Brics, Russia seeks to create favorable objectives for the progressive development of all its members.

“We are well aware that the establishment of a world order that reflects the true balance of power, the new geopolitical, economic and demographic reality, is a complicated process and in many ways, unfortunately, even painful,” he said.

Putin recalled that the Brics countries currently number 10, all with their own traditions and cultures, so each one implements its own model of political and socio-economic development.

In the same way, he stressed the behavior of the ruling elites in the so-called countries of the billion gold, which act against historical logic and to the detriment of the interests of their peoples.

“Now they seek to establish some sort of order based on their so-called rules, which no one has seen, no one has discussed and no one has ever accepted. These rules are drafted and adapted to each situation for the benefit of those who consider themselves exceptional and have arrogated the right to dictate their will to others”, considered the president.
