They will discuss economic and social solutions of regional interest in order to establish the thematic agenda with the strategic guidelines that CELAC leaders will analyze on Wednesday.
Throughout the day, the delegations from the 33 CELAC member countries will receive a dossier summarizing the work carried out by the Central American country during its year at the helm of the organization, a period that included 16 such meetings.
They will also review the Tegucigalpa Declaration, a key document for regional consensus in Latin America and the Caribbean, which contains the actions and agreements reached during the working group meetings for the 2024–2025 period.
In the morning, the Honduran Vice Minister for Consular and Migration Affairs Antonio Garcia received the foreign ministers Arnoldo Tinoco (Costa Rica), Celinda Lunda (Bolivia), and Juan Ramon de la Fuente (Mexico). The Vice Minister of International Cooperation Cindy Rodriguez welcomed Colombian Foreign Affairs Minister Laura Sarabia as well as the vice ministers of Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela, and Chile.
Honduran authorities also reported the arrival of Panama’s Vice Minister for Multilateral Affairs, Carlos Guevara, and the foreign ministers Kamina Johnson Smith (Jamaica), Chet Greene (Antigua and Barbuda), Denzil Douglas (Saint Kitts and Nevis), Joseph Andall (Grenada), Bruno Rodriguez (Cuba), Frederick Stephenson (Saint Vincent and the Grenadines), and Amery Browne (Trinidad and Tobago).
Earlier, Honduran Defense Minister Rixi Moncada welcomed Uruguayan President Yamandu Orsi at the Palmerola Air Base, north of Tegucigalpa. Also present in Honduran territory is the leader of Haiti’s Transitional Presidential Council, Leslie Voltaire.
Meanwhile, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil arrived in Honduras on Monday with the intention of reaffirming the need for Latin American unity to confront challenging times.
In this context of strengthening regional relations under Honduras’ leadership—especially in light of U.S. policies on migration and global trade—the presence of these delegations reaffirms the growing interest in bolstering both bilateral and multilateral ties among CELAC members. Throughout the day, the presidents of Brazil, Bolivia, Cuba, Guatemala, Mexico, and Colombia are expected to arrive in Honduras.
