The Chilean government has declared a state of emergency and imposed a curfew in all regions affected by a massive blackout that has left approximately 80% of the country without electricity.

The blackout has had significant consequences, halting essential services such as the metro and creating chaos in various parts of the country. The situation has prompted the activation of the National Disaster Prevention and Response Service (Senapred), which is monitoring the crisis and coordinating the government’s response.

The declaration of a state of emergency and curfew aims to restore order and ensure public safety amid this electrical crisis. Authorities have urged citizens to remain in their homes during curfew hours and to follow official instructions while efforts are underway to resolve the power supply issue.
