“We see that the opposition does not want to accept their defeat, although we believe the opposition should do so. They should congratulate the winner of these elections,” Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
“It is very important that these attempts to shake the situation within Venezuela are not fueled by third countries and that Venezuela remains free from external interference,” he added.
Previously, the Russian lawmakers who participated as electoral observers confirmed the transparency of the Venezuelan electoral system. On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin sent congratulations to Maduro for his electoral victory, adding that the Bolivarian leader will always be welcome in his country.
On the other hand, Chinese Foreign Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian asserted that the will of the Venezuelan people must be respected.
“All parties must respect the choice made by the Venezuelan people. We are convinced that the Venezuelan government and people are capable of resolving their own internal problems,” Lin said.
On Tuesday, Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to Nicolas Maduro for his re-election as president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
“Since taking office, President Maduro has led the Venezuelan government and people in the pursuit of a development path in line with their own national conditions, achieving remarkable successes,” he said.
“China will firmly support Venezuela’s efforts to safeguard its national sovereignty, dignity, and stability, as well as its just struggle against any external interference,” Xi pointed out.
