China: UN Representative Ask for a Ceasefire in Gaza Without Delay

During a session of the UN Security Council on the situation in the Middle East, China condemned the Israeli attack on the Al-Taba’een school in Gaza.

The Chinese permanent representative to the United Nations (UN), Fu Cong, on Tuesday called on the United States (US) to take sincere and responsible actions, For the Israeli occupation forces to stop the war actions and massacres in the Gaza Strip.

During a briefing by the UN Security Council on the situation in the Middle East, the Chinese special envoy sanctioned the attack carried out by Israel against the Al-Taba’een school in Gaza City last weekend, where more than 100 Palestinians died.

He also stressed that «civilians and civilian infrastructure should not be the target of military operations», adding that «this is a red line under international humanitarian law».

«Attacking schools where large numbers of civilians are seeking refuge again and again is an atrocious act», he said.

In this regard, Fu Cong called for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, as the population of Gaza demands it, while being the consensus of the international community.

The official stressed that the way to prevent deterioration and escalation is to achieve an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza without delay.

«China will work tirelessly to end the conflict in Gaza, alleviate the humanitarian catastrophe, implement the two-state solution and achieve long-term peace, stability and security in the Middle East», said Fu Cong.

He also stressed his government’s concern that the consequences of the Gaza conflict are growing ever more rapidly, and that the Middle East is at risk because of «irresponsible provocation and adventurism continue unabated».
