Luisa Gonzalez, the leftist leader of the Citizen Revolution (RC), and Daniel Noboa, the incumbent president seeking re-election, will face off in a second-round presidential election in April.
Meanwhile the Citizen Revolution secured 67 seats, establishing itself as the leading political force in the National Assembly. National Democratic Action (ADN), a right-wing organization controlled by Noboa, won 66 seats. Neither of the these parties managed to reach 77 seats, the threshold for an absolute majority that would allow them to pass laws without forming alliances.
“We will support any legislative initiative that helps the country overcome this energy, political, social, and economic crisis,” said RC Assembly member-elect Priscila Schettini.
The third-largest political force is the Indigenous movement party, Pachakutik, which won nine seats. It is followed by the Social Christian Party (PSC), which secured four seats. Other organizations, such as Construye and Unidad Popular, obtained a smaller number of legislators.
The newly elected Ecuadorian legislators will serve for four years, beginning on May 14. The National Assembly will be composed of 151 legislators, including 15 national legislators, 130 provincial legislators, and six legislators representing Ecuadorians living abroad.
These legislators represent citizens residing in Europe, Asia, and Oceania (2), the United States and Canada (2), and Latin America, Africa, and Oceania (2).
The CNE will officially announce the results of the 2025 elections once electoral authorities have completed reviewing and processing challenges to polling station records.
