«We must all feel proud and proud, because the people of Mexico showed their civic conscience, their democratic vocation, their republican sense, but also the collective recognition of their strength and history, Clearly and forcefully expressed on election day, » the elected president said upon receiving the credentials.

Claudia Sheinbaum stressed that she assumed victory not as an individual issue, but as an ancestral effort of women.

«I don’t come alone, we all come», he said, alluding to the fact that she is the first woman to obtain the State leadership in her nation.

She also pointed out that her achievement includes responsibilities both with those who supported her at the polls, and with those who agreed to the proposal for management of policies initiated by the current president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

«The majority of people voted to follow an honest, results-oriented government with love for the country and for the people of Mexico”, said Claudia Sheinbaum.

“In other words, most citizens do not want governments to return to the service of a few. Or the arrogance […], they do not want corruption or privileges to return. That is the mandate of the people of Mexico and it is our job to continue to make it a reality, » he said.

Similarly, he ruled out the possibility of adopting policies of freedom different from the notion of social welfare, typical of neoliberalism.

«Freedom can be fully exercised in a democratic regime and where Mexicans can live with welfare and rights», he argued.

He also stated that his government’s project is committed to guaranteeing security and will not return to the war-like approach against drugs that identified the mandates that preceded López Obrador.

With regard to democracy and the building of the rule of law, he advocated reform of the justice system.

«Justice, in the broad sense of the word, means social justice, environmental justice, justice for women, justice for all people. And also, justice equal for the poor and for the rich. That is, the people decided by a majority a true system of justice, which is equal for all Mexicans […], which includes the separation between economic power and the power of justice», said the elected president.

According to the National Electoral Institute (INE), Sheinbaum received 35.9 million votes, while Xóchitl Gálvez, a member of a conservative coalition, received only 16.5 million.
