Election Day Closes in Ecuador With More than 80% of Participation

At 5:00 PM this Sunday, the National Electoral Council (CNE) announced the official closing of the voting process for the 2025 Elections. With the conclusion of voting, the vote-counting process by the Members of the Receiving Boards has now begun.

During this electoral process, a total of 133,588 monitors from political organizations were authorized to oversee the electoral process, joining more than a thousand national and international observers. This deployment aims to ensure the transparency and legitimacy of the electoral process.

At the end of the electoral day, the president of the CNE, Diana Atamaint, stated that citizen participation in these elections reached 83.38%.

Additionally, the vote count will proceed for incarcerated individuals and those who accessed home voting, ensuring that all citizens have the opportunity to make their voices heard.

Preliminary results of the vote count are expected in the coming hours, while the CNE assures that it will remain vigilant to guarantee a fair and transparent process in this crucial election that will define Ecuador’s political direction for the coming years.
