The migrants had reached the community of Chucheros, located inside the Uramba National Natural Park, approximately 45 minutes from the Buenaventura District, said the Navy.

A group of people was located in the area, some of whom tried to flee when they noticed the presence of the authorities. During the search, it was established that 28 foreigners were involved, including three from China, including one under 10 years of age; one from South Africa, two from Bangladesh, 20 from India and two from Venezuela.

The officials of Migración Colombia, after verifying their documentation, determined that they did not have the corresponding permits to stay in the country.

According to the report, the foreigners arrived at the tourist pier of Buenaventura, from where they were transferred to the beach of Chucheros, about two weeks ago, and would be transported to the United States. It was also known that they had been charged $1,000 for the trip.

In recent days, the Colombian Navy has rescued 61 migrants in the Pacific and Caribbean as they cross to the United States.
