The Institute of Studies for Development and Peace (Indepaz) reported a new massacre in Colombia, the 65th in 2024, which left five fatalities in Buenos Aires, Cauca.
This incident occurred along the El Ceral path, where the bodies of three women and two men were discovered, some of whom were minors. Indepaz indicated that the victims were shot in the head, suggesting they were murdered execution-style.
The Ombudsman’s Office also issued a warning (AT036/23) regarding the risks facing the civilian population in this region, noting that wartime actions may target both military and civilian entities.
In the context of this violence, armed groups operating in the area were mentioned, including the Jaime Martinez Front and the Dagoberto Ramos Front Mobility, as well as other local gangs and the Colombian Army.
