The commander of Brigade 16 of the Army, Colonel Carlos Peña Jiménez, stated that the operation took place on a road in the hamlet of Bocas del Pauto.

There, troops deployed for registration and control purposes inspected a truck and, after checking the cargo, which pretended to be a relocation, found tarps containing the marijuana.

The senior official explained that the drug, which allegedly belonged to an organized armed group operating in the area, although he did not specify which one, was to be distributed to micro-trafficking networks operating in the Colombian Orinoquía.

With the seizure of this shipment, according to the Police, the sale, distribution, and consumption of nearly three million doses of this hallucinogen was prevented.

“This important operational result against illegal finances represents the largest and most significant impact made in the last five years in the region, and constitutes a strong blow against the logistical and criminal networks of organized armed groups in the Colombian Orinoquía,” asserted Colonel Peña.

In addition to confiscating the drugs and the vehicle, the driver of the vehicle was arrested and is now in the custody of the Colombian Prosecutor’s Office.
