The journalist and writer, founder of the multimedia channel teleSUR, Jorge Enrique Botero, died this Saturday, as confirmed today by the president and minister of culture of Colombia in digital networks.

Gustavo Petro, Colombian President highlighted in X that “Jorge Enrique Botero was a great and true journalist” and sent “A hug to all your family” wishing Botero to rest in peace.
For his part, the Colombian Minister of Culture, Juan David Correa, recalled Enrique Botero “was a great journalist. And he wrote a great novel, White Darkness, which I had the honor of editing. There he put much of what he had lived as a reporter in the eighties. He saw the power of establishment and its violence. A hug to his.”
Botero worked for 40 years in Colombian print media, radio and television. Also was a reporter for Prensa Latina (Havana, 1986-1991); correspondent of La Jornada de México in Colombia and founder of teleSUR (Caracas, 2005).
The journalist also published five books: Wait for me in the sky, captain, Latest News of War, Hostage Nation, Life is not easy, papi and Simon Trinity, the man of iron.
In addition, Botero was honored with the King of Spain awards (1997); New Journalism-Cemex (2003) and Best Colombian Book, awarded by the Fundación Libros y Letras (2005).
