Venezuela’s president, Nicolas Maduro, declared on Monday that the National Assembly is preparing to approve what he calls the “True Simon Bolívar Law.”
This initiative comes in response to a law recently passed by the U.S. House of Representatives, which seeks to intensify the blockade and sanctions against the South American country.
During his program “With Maduro +,” the president criticized the Venezuelan opposition, which he accused of having promoted for more than a year what he calls a “war law” against Venezuela, referring to it as the “Garbage Law.”
President Maduro assured that his government is ready to counter this legislation. The president explained that the new law aims to impose severe sanctions on Venezuelans, whether native or naturalized citizens, who incite or support foreign blockades and sanctions.
He also stressed that the real Simón Bolívar Law will provide Venezuelan institutions and democracy with a legal tool to protect the country’s right to peace and development.
