In response to the adverse weather conditions generated by tropical storm “Rafael,” Cuban authorities have decided to suspend operations at the airports of Gerona, Cayo Largo del Sur, Havana, and Varadero. This measure will take effect from midnight tonight, Tuesday, November 5, and will extend until noon on Thursday, November 7.
The decision was made after assessing the anticipated impact of the storm in the western part of the country, where strong winds and heavy rains are expected. Passengers with scheduled flights during this period are advised to contact their respective agencies or airlines to reschedule their trips.
Airlines have been notified about the suspension of operations, which will allow them to reorganize their itineraries and ensure passenger safety. Those affected are encouraged to maintain constant contact with their air service providers for updates on their flights.
Despite this suspension, other international airports in Cuba continue to operate normally, for the time being. Authorities urge the public and travelers to stay informed about the storm’s progress and to follow safety recommendations issued by relevant agencies.
The weather situation is expected to be closely monitored, and authorities are prepared to take further measures if conditions require it. The safety of citizens and visitors is the priority at this critical moment.
