The West aims to weaken Syria because it symbolizes sovereignty and autonomy in decision-making, President Maduro stated.

On Thursday, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez reaffirmed his nation’s solidarity with the people and government of Syria, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the sovereignty and territorial integrity of that country.

During a phone conversation, Rodriguez expressed to Syrian Foreign Minister Bassam Sabbagh the Cuban people’s support for his nation in the fight against attacks carried out by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and other terrorist groups.

Sabbagh provided the Cuban diplomat with a detailed account of the scale of the attacks, which involve a large number of foreign terrorists receiving external support and aiming to destabilize Syria’s security and stability.

“This hostile and terrorist action has endangered civilians’ lives and further worsened their already dire humanitarian conditions,” stated the Syrian Foreign Minister, who previously called on the United Nations Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities in implementing resolutions related to the fight against terrorism.

On Monday, during a phone call, President Nicolas Maduro expressed to President Bashar al-Assad the Venezuelan people’s support for Syria in its battle against terrorism and the nations that back it.

The Bolivarian leader denounced that the West aims to weaken Syria because this Middle East country symbolizes sovereignty and autonomy in decision-making.

Over the past week, Syrian military forces have been battling various terrorist groups in the rural regions of northern Aleppo and Idlib. “The Syrian army forces engaged in fierce fighting in the central province of Hama against rebel factions, mainly the HTS, killing at least 300 militants,” the China Daily reported.
