Another Zionist genocide of scorched earth and martyred people is unfolding in Lebanon, denounced President Diaz-Canel.

On Thursday, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel demanded that the United Nations take action in response to Israel’s new bombings in Lebanon.

“The news coming from Beirut is horrifying. As has happened in Gaza, another Zionist genocide of scorched earth and a martyrized people is unfolding there, with the use of weapons prohibited by international agreements. Cuba demands action from the UN,” he said.

The Israeli air force bombed the southern suburbs of Beirut, known as Dahye, one of which struck the media office of the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah, while also launching airstrikes further south in the Mount Lebanon area.

Through social media, Cuba’s Institute of Information and Social Communication expressed solidarity with two young journalists, correspondents for Prensa Latina in Lebanon, whose residence and workplace were destroyed by Israeli bombs on Thursday morning.

“A part of us was buried under the rubble of the room where we had worked as correspondents in Lebanon for more than two years,” said journalist Mayelin Martinez.

In recent days, around a million have been forced to leave their homes due to the intense Israeli bombings in eastern and southern Lebanon. The Israeli offensive has been accompanied by a ground invasion of Lebanon this week.

According to the Lebanese Health Ministry, Israeli attacks in Lebanon have left 1,974 people dead, including 127 children and 261 women, and 9,384 people injured so far, as reported by The Cradle.

In this context, Cuba considered that Israel “provoked” Iran’s response and accused it of inciting an escalation in the Middle East with its “aggressive policy” and “the backing” of the United States.
