Trump threatened the Persian nation with bombings and sanctions if no agreement was reached on its nuclear program.

On Monday, Cuba condemned the continued threats from the United States against Iran after President Donald Trump spoke about bombing the Persian nation if a new nuclear agreement was not reached.

“We reject the continued threats by the United States to bomb Iran as a pressure measure to reach a nuclear agreement, which endanger international peace, stability, and security,” Cuban Foreign Affairs Minister Bruno Rodriguez said, adding that those threats “could have serious and irreversible consequences in the Middle East.”

Several high-ranking Iranian officials also spoke out strongly against the threats from the U.S. president, highlighting their arbitrariness and irresponsibility.

“They threaten to commit an evil act. If they commit any evil, they will receive a reciprocal and strong blow,” Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said during a speech at the Mosalla Mosque in Tehran, where he celebrated Eid al-Fitr, the holiday marking the end of Ramadan.

Previously, on Sunday, Trump threatened Iran with bombings and secondary sanctions if no agreement was reached on its nuclear program, after Tehran rejected direct negotiations with Washington last week. “If they don’t make a deal, there will be bombing. It will be bombing the likes of which they have never seen before,” the U.S. president said.

Iran’s highest political and religious authority stated that he does not consider it likely that the United States will attack the country, while also warning against attempts to incite protests within its borders. “If they seek to create sedition within the country, the nation itself will respond,” he said.

Since his return to the White House, Trump has attempted to negotiate with Tehran while maintaining his “maximum pressure” policy, which has included four rounds of sanctions aimed at cutting off Iranian oil sales and military threats. Tehran has shut the door on direct talks under Trump’s threats but has expressed willingness to engage in indirect negotiations.
