Cuba: Raúl Castro Meets with Colonel General He Weidong in Havana

The leader of the Cuban Revolution, Army General Raúl Castro, today in Havana received Colonel General He Weidong, vice president of the Central Military Commission of China.

During the meeting, both interlocutors noted the excellent state of relations between the peoples, parties, governments and armed forces of Cuba and China.
Raul Castro took advantage of this official visit to convey a strong hug to the Chinese president, Xi Jinping. On the Cuban side, the Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, Army Corps General Álvaro López Miera was present. Hua Xin, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Cuba, and other members of the delegation accompanying He Weidong participated with the visitor.
The day before, the Chinese military met with President Miguel Díaz-Canel at the Palace of the Revolution, headquarters of the executive. At that meeting, the Cuban leader stressed that in both nations the armed forces are an important bulwark in socialist construction, which makes the high-level visit of the People’s Liberation Army of China an honor.
The head of state also acknowledged the support and solidarity of the Asian nation in the complex circumstances created by the US blockade, which has been intensified in recent years.
