“We reject the decisions announced by the U.S. Secretary of State and the misleading pretexts he intends to use to justify the unjustifiable,” said Chancellor Rodríguez on the social media platform X, at the time he added that “just like the measures from January 20, there is no support for the new gratuitous abuse of the Cuban people.”

The chancellor also assured that “hardening criminal measures to the Cuban people will cause greater shortages, separation and increased emigration.”

“It is a new provocative act of those who take back control of the Cuban issue to promote irresponsible scenarios of confrontation with ends and results contrary to what has been proclaimed,” said Bruno Rodriguez.

During the day, the reissuance of the Restricted Entities List of Cuba was approved, to prohibit financial transactions with Cuban state-owned companies and deny them resources. In this way, the entities included in the last week of the previous administration will be reinstated, and the remittance processing company, Orbit, S.A., will be included.

In this regard, the State Department states that from the first day in office, President Donald Trump again included Cuba on the arbitrary list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism.

On January 20, U.S. President Donald Trump invalidated the order issued by his predecessor, Joe Biden, which had removed Cuba from the list of nations that allegedly promote terrorism. This action, taken in the early hours of his administration, reversed one of the last acts of the outgoing administration.
