Cuban President Díaz-Canel Greets Arab and Islamic Diplomatic Corps in Havana

The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, greeted the diplomatic corps of Arab and Islamic countries accredited in the country during an event at the Laguito Protocol Hall in Havana.

The gathering, which took place during the Iftar of Ramadan, was organized by the Dean of the Arab Diplomatic Corps accredited in Havana, Ambassador of the Republic of Yemen, Mohamed Saleh Nasher. President Díaz-Canel attended for the second consecutive year.

The greeting was attended by Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz and Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, both members of the Political Bureau. During the event, the Dean of the Group of Arab Ambassadors reiterated their support for Cuba in its struggle against the US blockade and demanded its lifting, as well as the exclusion of the island from the list of countries allegedly sponsoring terrorism.

On behalf of the Group of Arab Ambassadors, Mohamed Saleh Nasher presented President Díaz-Canel with a traditional sword as a symbol of high regard and in recognition of the defense of the Arab world against colonialism and its cultural heritage.

In statements to the press team of the Cuban Presidency, the Dean emphasized that the holy month of Ramadan is an opportunity to promote values of tolerance, solidarity, and cooperation, highlighting the importance of these gatherings.

Additionally, he underscored Cuba’s role in supporting international peace and justice and its commitment to the cause of the Palestinian people. Attendees shared a moment of legendary hospitality and reflection on common values of justice, tolerance, peace, and dignity.
